Train Schedule - Train leaves every hour or so from Rome's central station - called Termini.  You will be provided with an excruciating detailed, step-by-step description of how to purchase your ticket.  Cost approximately 15 Euro.

Ferry Schedule Partenza (from) Porto Santo Stefano. During the summer there is a ferry departing Santo Stefano every 60 to 90 minutes.  Detail instructions and schedule will be sent to you.

The Flat - small but comfortable

Isola del Giglio is 12 miles off of the coast of Tuscany in the Mediterranean Sea.  It is 1 of 7 islands in the "Tuscan Archipelago," which includes Montecristo (yes, from Alexander Dumas fame) and Elba (Napoleon's exile).

A short bus ride (or taxi) from the train (Orbetello) to Porto Santa Stefano where the 1 hour ferry ride leaves you 100 meters from our apartment.

Dress, clothing, activities

Giglio is a summer escape for Italians living in Rome and Tuscany.  You will likely not see another American, ( good or bad?).  Most on the island speak English.  Clothing is for summer fun.  Shorts, swimsuits, sandals, and a backpack.

Hike to secluded coves; swim in crystal clear water; eat your packed lunch.

The flat is perfect for a young family or couple.  There are stairs to the apartment.  Travel light.  The only clothing that you must bring to Giglio is shorts and swim suites.   Shoes are a good idea.  Nothing fancy here...Restaurants are all informal.  Hiking, swimming, snorkeling (gear included) is what you do.

No car necessary - everything is within walking distance.  Buses and taxis can take you to the other side of the island.  Bus - 2 Euro; Taxi 12 Euro.

Up the stairs on the left.  Kika will meet you at the ferry.

The flat is small but comfortable and everything is new.  Perfect for a couple or young family.

The "master" has a king bed with small closet.  The loft has a queen with its own bathroom and shower.  There is a pull-out couch that will sleep two small people.  CAREFUL:  The loft has steep stairs and would not be appropriate for young children or sleep walkers.  The kitchen, sitting area, and pull-out couch are all in a common area.  The master can be closed via door and "separation" window for privacy.
