Giglio is not for those who prefer to sit by the pool and drink Mai Tai's.  There are spectacular coves, wonderful trails, medieval villages, and pristine, refreshing seas.

Giglio is for those who prefer the "Road less traveled." Yet, most of the islanders speak English and the warmth of the Italian locals is inviting.

Our Flat in Porto

Giglio is a small island - 6 miles by 3 miles.  There are three villages; the main village of Porto, a beach village on the western shore Campesse, and the medieval castle village of Costello on top of the mountain.  Our flat is in Porto, where the ferry arrives and where most of the activity is.  Several beaches are within walking distance...as close as a few meters (Demos Hotel) to 30 minutes Caldane.

There are buses that will take you to many hiking trails where secluded coves can be accessed.  These are typically 20 minute walks (some more, some less), but most have a downhill walk to the sea and uphill back.

Temperatures range from 80 during the day to 70 in the evnening.  A light sweater is recommended for the cool evenings.

The sun is strong, so bring a hat.  Sun screen can be purchased on the island or in Rome.

Your flat is located in the center of the small village.  Walk everywhere or take a taxi to the mountain top for dinner in a 12th century castle.

For those that are interested, we can provide telephone and internet for your travel in Italy at no additional cost.

Our flat, while small by U.S. standards, is refurbished, comfortable, with a small master bedroom and twin bed in the loft.  Two bathrooms with showers.  Air conditioned, washer/dryer, kitchen, and internet. We face the hill, a bit quieter.  Our stairs lead to a beautiful vista of the small harbor.
